How would you define a healthy relationship?
A healthy relationship is when a guy and girl have a special level of trust between one another. They both can tell each other anything and not be scared about sharing their feelings. They should act kindly toward one another and respect each other.
What qualities do you look for in a potential gf?
A potential girlfriend should have a great personality, is caring, and should have similar interests as me—for example, going to the movies and just hanging out with one another. She shouldn’t be too serious though—gotta have a sense of humor!
What challenges come in high school relationships?
There tends to be a lot of peer pressure in high school. There are always teens that are drinking and doing drugs or engaging in sex. Personally, I think that staying abstinent will help keep you safe and helps you not end up regretting something that will stay with you for the rest of your life.
Do you think dating abuse happens among teens today? What type(s) of abuse do you see?
Yes, I do believe that dating abuse happens among teens. Personally, I think I am one of the few people that has friends that have not abused a girl in any way—physically, emotionally, or verbally.
What issues do you see in the media, specifically in how they portray marriage and relationships among teens?
In gossip magazines and on TV, the relationships between people always seem so exaggerated and made up. Their relationships aren’t real and they don’t show what is really going on among teenagers today. It’s hard because that type of stuff is everywhere and it’s entertaining so it’s really easy to get sucked into hearing things that aren’t true.
